The Ski Room
The Ski Room designed by local architect David Sellers was the last room in the Inn to be completed. Saving the best for last, it was decided to honor the early tradition of downhill skiing in the Mad River Valley by building an entire ‘lodge’ within the attic of the Inn. So when you open the door, you open into a snowy base of a ski area in 1940. Warren artist Candy Barr painted a typical scene (she also painted the mural of the three ski areas in the Tracks Tavern three stories down). Complete with an original lift ticket booth, trail maps, vintage signs, and local skiing mementoes, the Ski Room includes a full kitchen, comfortable leather sofa, wood-burning stove, and the king-size bed overlooking the Freeman Brook. The well-appointed bathroom has a steam shower with an inlaid compass in Vermont Verde serpentine stone in case you get lost. Unless, of course, that is your intention.
